Here’s to Rosalie, former baby of the family. Wow and wow again, Punky, you really have covered all the bases. It goes without saying (Because I have said it before and you told us all not to say it anymore) but the amount of time and serious work you put into this project boggles the mind. Kind of detracts a bit from me feeling good about having just mowed the lawn. But you went even further having bookmarks, business cards, and postcards made, a web site (This IS a web site, right? I mean for all I know it could be a widget), all the contacts, well the list goes on. On another note I just answered the phone to hear a friend (There goes the unbiased opinion factor) start right out saying, "I had tears running down my cheeks I was laughing so hard just now. And yesterday at work I was reading and people kept saying things like ‘Found a good book, eh?’" I told her to shout it out from the highest mountaintop, which in Wisconsin is around 1200 feet so it won’t be the same as if Pat climbed Pikes Peak and yelled from there, but I bet some people would still hear it. I am hoping I have just set a new record for parentheses used per letter in any written statement.

I enjoyed the site. I'm so happy to be part of the family. What a nice legacy to leave to the Grandchildren for their children.

Just got an email from Amazon that my own personal copy of “Pieces of Eight” is on its way! I can’t wait for the laughing tears to begin rolling down my face. Gonna happen, you know it will!! I love, love, love the pictures!! What a neat family and a complete jewel to leave for generations to come.

i’m typically surfing across the internet almost all of the morning thus I possess a tendency to peruse significantly, which unfortunately is not always a beneficial factor as a great number of the blogs I view are made up of useless crap copied from different websites a zillion times, but I have to give you credit this page is in fact decent and also delivers a bit of original content, for that reason thanks for stopping the trend of merely duplicating other people’s sites, bye for now

I loved looking at all the old photos. My book came today and I am anxious to start reading it. Not only did I know some of you from school, but your Dad was our dentist! What a great idea!!

I recently picked up a copy of PIECES of EIGHT (wonderful title, BTW) from the finest Dental Physician in Fat Dog – which doesn’t say nearly enough – so I must enlarge to the Great Midwest. I finished reading the book yesterday while soaking up some May sunshine. What a great way to spend a Sunday morning! I hated for it to end.
As an “only child,” I think the only one who would feel more wistful upon reading your book would be someone having a number of brothers and sisters who had always been at odds with one another. (Note I shied away from using the term “envious” as I feel that yours is too good and fair-minded a group to in any way pollute with such a tainted emotion.) But – “wistful” – yes. My most constant friends, growing up – and still, today, are books and my own imagination. The day our Public Library put an end to a maximum number of books that could be taken out per visit was a Red Letter Day for me . . . I would previously drag a friend with me – less-inclined towards Bookwormism – and have her check out books for me on her card. And topping my reading lists were always books about large families. I was thoroughly entranced with the varied personalities and relationships amongst all the sibs, their parents and their friends. I will say here that “you Maggios” have now surpassed the FIVE LITTLE PEPPERS AND HOW THEY GREW (and not just by sheer number).
A really wonderful book – wonderfully crafted as well as wonderfully-related stories. Since I’m loathe to part with my copy – I’ll be visiting my favorite Dentist anon to purchase a couple more copies for my (former) Castagnoli sisters-in-law and another friend (Carolyn Powers Lunn) as I’m sure she graduated St Ed’s with one of you.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful family! MC

HONORARY FAMILY MEMBERS

June 8, 2010

Some people have said that after reading our book, they wished they were Maggios too. Others have asked if we couldn't make room for honorary family members. Although the prestige involved is outta sight, there aren't too many other benefits. But let's just start a little list anyway ...

Phyllis Bush (she was probably the first person who has never met any of us to read & appear to truly like our book--on her Kindle, no less)

Kathy (our inadvertent e-mail friend--we disguised her as "Audrey" in the book in case she had changed her mind about wanting to belong to our e-mail threads)

Diane Boyken (well, she's already family--our first cousin--but she wished we had ever taken her to the dump, so maybe by that she's implying she'd like to have been one of us, because only we went to the dump)

Roxie Bunda Kaminski (said straight out "I want to be a Maggio" but I think she'll like honorary membership even better than the real thing because she won't have to deal with so many extra people in her life)
